If only love were just as simplistic
As the corny fetishistic desire
That society sells as dramatic
Something more altruistic might inspire
For these ardent emotions kidnap souls
Abetted by patriarchal routines
Shoving ev’rybody into their holes
Most of the weaker it cruelly demeans
But we all need these infusions of love
To remind us of our humanity
Though corporations at us it will shove
Of course true love is ǝʞıן insanity
Valentine’s Day can prime our love’s pump
Although it can also expose a chump
•Parasite• Oscar Sonnet
Because •Parasite• won the Oscar
It suggests the beginning of a change
In the higher brow popular culture:
So People Of Color are now less strange
We indulge in cinematic fiction
Loving the suspension of disbelief
Gobbling up the popcorn-like-action
Simply accepting the assumptions chief
Movies’ humanity is created
It’s a well worn path of structures given
A hierarchy: some are defeated
& Women into Eve’s story driven
But still it is a tiny miracle
That culture’s making things more possible
